At the end of the day, I am amazed that 1) the Voyager I, a human-made object launched in the year of my birth, has managed to reach the bounds of the solar system, about 11.5 billion miles away; and 2) certain humans STILL want to institute a medieval punishment like the death penalty, regardless of its moral consequences and the proven arbitrariness of its application. We are both marvelous and monstrous, making marvels even as our bloodthirst blinds us.
