Good friends are rare and strange creatures. Unicorns, really. They do not bring out the best or worst in you. Rather, they entice your true self, gleaming and mysterious even to yourself, from its captivity beneath a skin pieced together from everyday concerns, anxieties, and superficial desires. In laughter, in conversation, in shared silence, there is you, somehow, with your unicorn of a friend; you, rare and strange too, fleetingly free.
