latibulate: to hide oneself (in an attempt to escape reality)
To use in a sentence: I habitually latibulate.
The word comes into usage in the 17th century, which assures me the desire underlying this action is not a contemporary one, although I hesitate to say it is not a modern one, since it appears at the advent of capitalism and all the crap that comes from its effects.
Whenever I can, I latibulate: away from office, pub, and society, squirrelling myself under a blanket with a hot water bottle and a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, surrounded by a moat of books.
